Unik Impact Foundation joined a community initiative in 2015 to establish a primary school in Hadejia town, Hadejia Local Government Area of Jigawa State, North West,
Nigeria. The Anku/Tudunwada c o m m u n i t y a p p r o a c h e d t h e Foundation for an intervention to finish a primary school it had started but couldn’t go up to the lintel level.
The Foundation took over the project, which was a two blocks of three classrooms each, completed it according to specification, and handed same to the community.
This is a unique model in community partnership to improve education infrastructure and drive enrolment, e s p e c i a l l y i n p o o r u r b a n communities, with very low enrolment and retention rate due to either distance, lack of space, or little costs.
