Dr Nuruddeen Muhammad is a Nigerian physician–diplomat and development leader with more than 20 years of experience spanning clinical practice, public policy, politics, international development, diplomacy, global health, and community-level development. As Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs (2011–2015), he helped lead regional, continental, and global policy and implementation initiatives across international development, global health, and security through ECOWAS, the African Union (AU), the United Nations (UN), and other multilateral institutions.

In this role, he supervised and managed up to $250 million in international development assistance and commitments, linking high-level diplomacy with practical development delivery.

He is the Founder and CEO of Unik Impact Foundation and the Founder and Chairman of Sawaba FM Radio, initiatives focused on expanding equitable access to health, education, livelihoods, environmental sustainability, local research, advocacy, and civic empowerment in some of the world’s most vulnerable communities.

Dr Muhammad holds an MBBS degree from Bayero University Kano, Nigeria; Membership of the West African College of Physicians; a Fellowship from the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria in Psychiatry; and an MSc in Global Health and Development from University College London with focus on health systems strengthening, health policy, health management, planning and programme design, climate change and health.

He combines political acumen, local insight, medical expertise, and international diplomatic, policy, and development experience to advance equitable health access, sustainable development delivery, and community-level systems change.
