Unik Impact Foundation Sponsors Medical Outreach in Flood Ravaged Communities in Auyo

Unik Impact Foundation and the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) Jigawa State branch both have commitment to their individual objective to build strong partnerships to deliver qualitative healthcare to vulnerable groups, especially during climate disasters and emergencies.

Consistent with this, Unik Impact sponsored, with the technical assistance of the NMA, a medical outreach on the 27th of October, 2018, at an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp in Auyo town, Auyo Local Government Area.

This followed a massive flood in October 2018 and reports of breakoutof diseases at the camp. Again, the major medical facility in the entire Local Government Area was also completely submerged in the floodwaters. About 1,217 people, mostly women and children, benefited from the program.
Common diseases treated and services offered included malaria, diarrhoeal diseases, upper respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, enteric fever, sepsis, antenatal services, chronic infected wounds, skin infections, allergies, and cases of malnutrition, elevated blood pressure, and rheumatism.
