Unik Impact Foundation enrolled in December 2022, fifty orphans into a community primary school it had completed in Hadejia, Hadejia Local Government Area of Jigawa State, North West, Nigeria. The enrollees included an equal number of boys and girls to ensure gender balance in opportunity and future empowerment through education.
A 2022 United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) report noted that approximately 20 million individuals of its approximately 200 million population are not enrolled in school. This represents about 20 per cent of Nigeria’s entire 200 population and more than the overall population of many African countries. Jigawa has the fifth highest number of out of school children in the country.

Again, Nigeria has up to fifteen per cent of the global burden of out of school girls according to a United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) report in September, 2023, with the North East and North West – where Jigawa is located – accoounting for moerthan fourty eight per cent of this figure.
This is due to many reasons, with access, socio-economic, cultural, and sometimes even issues of quality ranking highest.

The enrollees who were drawn from adjoining communities would benefit free tuition, uniform, and writing and instructional materials from the Foundation throughout their six years in primary school.
