A future Unik Scholar is a typical child in northern Nigeria who would grow up heavily impacted by poverty and a very rare opportunity to gain an education. Constrained by circumstances of birth, such children may have the ability, will and dreams but could be handicapped at an early stage and be left to labor through out a life of misery, disease and want.
Commonly they experience severe poverty first from home where yet access to clean water, balanced diet, clothing, sanitation, electricity or even a room to sleep is difficult. He is also exposed to early responsibility of chores, hunger, illness, and very little educational activity. From a remote and an illiterate home, he doesn’t stand the chance for education and would be left to inherit poverty. They are clearly disadvantaged from birth and bound to labor through out life as the only option away from education.
