Unik Impact Foundation Provides Water Transport Support to Flood-Affected Communities

Climate change has led to a series of devastating floods, significantly impacting the health and wellbeing of vulnerable communities worldwide. A notable example is the severe flooding in Jigawa State, North West Nigeria, in September 2022, which resulted in the destruction of bridges and roads, isolating dozens of communities.

This isolation disrupted emergency evacuations, hindered economic activities, and increased the risk of fatal accidents. In response, Unik Impact Foundation provided a standardized motorized canoe and life jackets to communities in the Pandun axis of Kirikasamma Local Government Area, Jigawa State.

This intervention aims to enhance safety, efficiency, and economic recovery in flood-prone areas. Safe and efficient water transportation is crucial for evacuating the sick, supporting economic activities, and preventing drowning-related fatalities.
